Which types of photography are you available for and what is the investment I’d do?

My photography services are focussed on styled product photography, ambience / interior photography for riads and personal branding photography for creative, female entrepreneurs.

May you have a request of which you are not sure whether it matches my services, then please do still feel free to contact me to check if I’d be able to help or not. May it turn out to be a request that I can not help you with, then I’m always more than happy to recommend other photographers in town.

* Please note that family, couples, maternity, wedding and event photography do not form part of my services

The investment you would do for a photo shoot varies a bit per type of photo shoot, the duration of a session and the usage / purpose of the images, but rates start at a minimum of € 400.

Who is in charge of the styling?

Product photography:

Since I’m not a studio photographer, all of the product shoots take place on location and often in a styled interior setting (mostly in riads). The most ideal situation would always be you being present during the shoot and taking care of the products, setting and styling. No worries though! May it not be possible for you to be present at the shoot due to all the current travel restrictions, then there is the option is to create an available budget to hire an extra pair hands to take care of the prepping and styling. This way we can work as efficiently as possible and it will allow me to fully focus on the photography while a stylist will carefully look after your products and style them into a perfect set up.

Personal Branding photography:

Unless you’d like to hire a stylist or MUA, you will be responsible for your own looks (clothes, make-up, hair). I’d always advise to choose your outfit(s) mindfully. Go for a look that really represents you in your role of the entrepreneur, makes you feel comfortable yet confident and gives an overall flattering look in the photos. To make sure you stand out in the photo, I’d try to avoid any prints since they can have a distracting effect. When shooting in the streets or souks of the old medina, it is appreciated when the local culture is taken into consideration regarding the way you dress. I will always ask about the chosen outfit(s) before any branding shoot in order for me to prepare a mood board and work on color scheming.

We will also discuss any props we would like to use during the shoot. You can think of specific tools you might use in your work (a camera, notebook, laptop, pencils, agenda, etc.) as well as little items that represent your brand such as business cards or brochures.

To prepare the photo shoot, I will ask you which type of location you have in mind (indoors or outdoor spaces). It could be that you already have arranged a location or perhaps you have a specific location in mind. In case you have seen a place or space but you don’t know the name, you can send me a photo and I might either know the place or be able to find out where it is. Though I do not mediate between my clients and a location, I will always be more than happy to help you think of possible locations. Over the past years I have visited and / or done shoots at many different locations which allows me to recommend you the right places that match your vision.

Please do keep in mind that these private locations should always be contacted up front and ahead of the photo shoot. I’d advise to always send them an e-mail on top of a DM through Instagram or a phone call. Check who the person in charge is and explain clearly who you are, what the photo shoot is about, where / how images will be used and which persons will be present during the shoot. This information is important for locations to know before considering whether or not putting their property at our disposal for a photo shoot.

It often might be that private locations such as riads charge an hourly or daily rental fee. Keep this in mind when calculating your budget for the photo shoot.

When shooting outdoors in public spaces, I will make sure to plan a logic order and route that will lead us to pretty corners, as well as help us to work as efficiently as possible.

Who is in charge of the locations?

When and how do I receive my photos?

The turn around time depends on the duration of the photo shoot (the longer the shoot, the more photos to edit) and the amount of projects I’m working on in a specific period. I however always aim to send the final results between 7 - 10 days. Meanwhile I’ll send some previews within the first 2 - 3 days for you to see what I’m working on and to provide me with any feedback you might have.

Once the photos are ready you will receive a the link with access to an online preview gallery. In this online gallery you can view and check out the final results. Once the full payment is done you will receive the link to also download the images.

Please make sure to download your photos within 7 days. The link will expire after those 7 days. I also strongly recommended you to make an extra back up of the photos directly after downloading, since I keep them only for a limited period of time before deleting both edits and RAW files.

Do I get to see and receive all the photos we took?

A part of my job as the photographer is to go through the process of culling / selecting and make a selection of only the best photos. These are the photos that meet my criteria in what I consider a good or great photo. As not every single click delivers a useful photo, there will always be many that do not make it to this selection. These will not be selected nor shared because they are either repeats, out of focus, test shots, with blinked eyes, unflattering, etc.

This also applies to original / RAW files; these will not be shared nor shown.

The exact amount of edited photos you will receive depends on the duration of the shoot, the requested variety in images and the amount of results we got. You can however fully trust that it is always a well considered selection that includes at least all the essentials and has more than enough photos to boost your website and social media feeds.

How much time is needed for a photo shoot?

When it comes to setting time frames my main rule is quality over quantity, always. Unlike taking a quick picture with a phone, photography with a professional camera does require time while constantly checking the scene, light and getting the manual settings and focus right. Besides that the time frame depends on several other aspects such as checking out the location, checking the products and props (in case of a product shoot), the number of items or spaces that need to be photographed, creating the set up, experimenting with different compositions and set ups, a potential outfit change (in case of a branding shoot), etc. These are all aspects to keep in mind when it comes to the time frame and the number of hours you wish to book my services for. Please do note that mentioned examples above do count as session time.

*Important side note for styled product photography shoots: in order to save time, please make sure that the supplier delivers all products complete and in time at the location where the shoot will take place. In case of poufs and pillows it is crucial that they are either already stuffed or delivered with multiple stuffing materials in the right sizes, in order for us to work efficiently. In case of vintage rugs it is strongly recommended to make sure your supplier has already taken care of the cleaning and restoration work.

Can photos be used on social media and/or website?

You sure can use the photos on your social media platforms or website. I consider it a great compliment to see people posting my work. When posting the photos on social media, I do ask for a visible photo credit by mentioning my name in the caption (Instagram) or elsewhere when used (with permission) on a third parties website or a publication of any kind. Reason is that copyrights are not included in my services, rather a usage license that allows you to use images on your website and / or your social media. In case I’d like to use some photos for my Instagram or portfolio, I’ll always make sure to both mention and tag you and/or your product.

What equipment do you work with?

I currently work with a Nikon Z7 ii and a Nikon D750. The lenses I love to use are mainly the 50 mm f1.4 and the 24-70 mm f2.8.

Do you sell prints or digital files / releases of your Marrakech / Morocco photographs?

For now, digital files are not for sale. In a few European countries (Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, Austria and Switzerland) it is however possible to order a small selection of my photos as posters or printed on canvas. You can have a look at my work by clicking HERE. An actual fine art paper printed collection is being worked on and will be launched for sale in Marrakech hopefully this year.
